About the organisation

The Asociación de Celíacos de Galicia (ACEGA) has accompanied celiac people across Galicia’s four provinces — A Coruña, Pontevedra, Ourense and Lugo — for more than 25 years. Its work ranges from guiding the newly diagnosed to raising social awareness, with materials available in both Galician and Spanish.

ACEGA offers advice on the gluten-free diet in everyday life — at home, while shopping, when eating out and in social settings — and maintains a directory of celiac-friendly establishments and bakeries that can be downloaded from its website.

To provide assurance when eating out, it runs an accreditation programme for restaurants and bakeries identified with the “Crossed Grain”, the international barred-wheat-ear symbol that distinguishes controlled products and venues.
